Our Origins & Mission

Artisan NY® was created in 2015 by a team of New York-based artists, designers, and entrepreneurs. We came together out of a shared passion for quality craftsmanship, sustainable materials, and promoting local businesses.

Our founding mission is to connect consumers with goods that are ethically produced by talented artisans. We believe shopping should feel good – for you and for the makers behind each product.

Our Sourcing & Production

Every item at Artisan NY® is specially curated to bring you pieces that are made well and made ethically.

We source our collections from small designers, local shops, artisan cooperatives, and independent makers throughout the United States. Many of the businesses we work with are women-owned and people of color-owned.

We focus on pieces produced using sustainable methods and materials. Our clothes, bedding, and other products use renewable, natural fabrics like organic cotton, linen, silk, and wool whenever possible.

Our makers are paid fair, living wages and work in safe conditions. We partner with cooperatives and businesses that are committed to social responsibility and environmental sustainability.

By selling these ethically crafted goods directly to you online, we are able to offer artisanal quality at accessible prices. Every product helps support independent designers and makers.

We sketch original prints and patterns that celebrate the diversity and artistry of our home city. Our designers collaborate closely with the artists and makers that produce each piece.

Every item is designed for quality, versatility, and everyday wearability. Our goal is to create goods you’ll love for years to come.

While trends come and go, our focus stays on timeless essentials and investment pieces made to become future heirlooms. Our designers add special touches like hand-embroidered details, natural dyes, and expert craftsmanship.

Our name Artisan NY® was chosen as a reflection of our founders, designers, and makers.

Artisan refers to the skilled craftspeople and small businesses behind every item we sell. Their passion, talent, and care instill quality into everything they produce.

NY represents the place that inspired our brand – the energy, diversity, and artistry of New York City. Our company was started by native New Yorkers intent on supporting local businesses.

The ® symbol signifies our commitment to responsible, ethical production that customers can trust.

Meet Our Team

Artisan NY® is made up of a diverse, passionate team that oversees every part of our brand – from designers and buyers to photographers and customer care.

Founders

Our co-founders met in New York while working in fashion and small business:

• Olivia Shaw has a background in garment production, design, and photography. She previously managed production for independent brands across the U.S.
• Noah Klein has experience operating eco-conscious companies and specializes in sustainable supply chains.

Together they united their skills to create Artisan NY® as a platform for ethical shopping.

Designers

Our talented in-house designers come from apparel, textiles, graphic design, and creative backgrounds. They sketch original prints, patterns, and products for each collection.

Buyers

Our expert buyers have years of experience in boutique retail and small business. They source special items from creators across the country and build relationships with our maker partners.

Photographers

We work with gifted local photographers to capture the essence of New York City and spotlight the people behind our products.
